Island peak Climbing is one of the most popular Peak in Nepal. It was first conquered by an expedition team that was preparing to climb Mt. Everest in the year 1953. The summit of this peak is a little bit difficult to climb however descent is comparatively easier and faster. The scene from the summit is incomparable as well as captivating.

Island Peak Trekking leads us through the rich countryside which is also a melting pot of both Nepalese as well as Tibetan cultures. Likewise, the journey also offers some of the most bewitching scenery of Khumbu and Dingboche. The stone village filled with Buddhist shrines excites us towards the ice climbing of the mountain.

Island Peak is a lofty challenge and most sought after a peak in and is also one of the busiest peaks of Nepal. Island Peak has some technical sections for which you will require technical skills during the climbing. Imja Tse is surrounded by a sea of glaciers and this trip and also be combined along with Everest Base Camp Trek. Island Peak offers us beautiful trekking through the Khumbu region where you will be mesmerized by the beauty of this region.

Island Peak Climbing is a sublime effort. Island peak otherwise known as Imja Tse stands at the altitude of 6189m above the sea level. It is located at the beautiful Imja Valley on the Everest Region. It is named Island Peak as it looks like an island in a sea of ice from Dingboche. This peak is the most searched trekking peak in the world.In comparison to other mountain peaks, this peak is relatively difficult to climb. The Island Peak climb is straight forward with some technical section (300m) in the beginning and near to the summit. However, with the experienced trekking guide and your own determination make you succeed in the mission of island peak mountaineering.

Day 1
Arrive at Kathmandu Airport [1345m/4411ft] and transfer to Hotel.

Our representative from Nepal Guide Treks and Expedition will receive you at the Tribhuvan International Airport with a warm welcome. After the customs formalities are over you will be taken into the hotel in the heart of Kathmandu. Our staff will help you with your check into the hotel. You can either have rest at the hotel or visit our office for collecting additional information about the trip. In the evening Nepal Guide Treks and Expedition will offer you welcome dinner.

Day 2
Sightseeing at Kathmandu Valley.

We would take you to some of the famous World Heritage sites in Kathmandu for sightseeing. It is not possible to visit all the world heritage sites in Kathmandu in a single day. Other activities include unpack, make arrangements of the climbing gears, know the fellow participants and discussion about our trip.

Day 3
Fly from Kathmandu to Lukla [2800m/9184m] & Trek to Phakding [2640m/8659ft]

After having breakfast at the hotel, we will move towards Tribhuvan International Airport for an early morning flight to Lukla. Lukla is the gateway to Khumbu and entire Everest Region. After landing at Lukla, we will follow the trail that is gradual uphill trekking through the left bank of Dudh Koshi River. We will pass along many Mani walls before we arrive at Ghat. From here, we will have both uphill and downhill trekking experiences towards Phakding.

Day 4
Trek from Phakding to Namche Bazaar [3440m/11283ft]

Leaving Phakding we will cross a small stream and start ascending until we reach Bengar. From here to we have both uphill and downhill climbing. We will stop at the entrance of Sagarmatha National Park for registration. After paying the entry fee, we will make a steady climb towards Namche Bazaar- the Sherpa Capital. We will spend one more day at Namche Bazaar for exploration and acclimatization.

Day 5
Acclimatization and Exploration day at Namche Bazaar.

Till now we have already gained an altitude of 3000m above the sea level. We will spend our day at Namche Bazaar studying Sherpa culture and exploring the busy market streets. It is also worth walking uphill to Sagarmatha National Park Museum and the combined village of Khumbu and Khumjung. Namche Bazaar is an extensive market town where there is always something to see.

Day 6
Trek from Namche Bazaar to Tyangboche [3867m/12683ft]

After spending a full day at Namche Bazaar, we will ascend the trail that will lead us towards khyangjuma where there are several tea houses. With the superb view of Ama Dablam, we will descend on a stone-paved trail to Phunke Tenga and begin our uphill trekking through Pine forest. From there we will traverse across Tyangboche hill and climb a switchback to arrive at Tyangboche.

Day 7
Trek from Tyangboche to Dingboche [4260m/13972ft]

From here we will follow the trail that offers great views of ama Dablam and Kantega as they appear on the other side. We continue our uphill trekking passing through Pangboche and its monastery. We will slowly climb towards a village and pass through a big mani Stupa. This is the place from where our trek is fairly moderate as we head towards Dingboche for the overnight stay.

Day 8
Trek from Dingboche to Island Peak Base Camp [5087m/16685ft]

Leaving Dingboche, we will move on a trail that is gradual ascend towards high Imja Valley. From here will have a mind-blowing scene of Ama Dablam, Lhotse, Nuptse, Island Peak and other surrounding peaks. We continue moving until we arrive at Island Peak Base Camp. We will set up our camp at the foot of Island Peak’s south ridge beneath the giant wall of Nuptse and Lhotse.

Day 9
Acclimatization and Exploration

Before attempting a climb to Island peak summit, we will take a spear day for proper acclimatization because we are already over 5000m altitude above the sea level. So to avoid any kind of mental and physical illness we will take a rest here. Besides that our Sherpa guide will check health conditions and climbing gears to make sure that everyone is fit for the main summit climb.

Day 10
Island Peak summit [6189m/20299ft] & Back to Base Camp

We will make an early start towards the summit with the aim to reach the summit before noon because the strong blow of wind usually after midday may create obstacles in reaching the summit. Following the instructions and footsteps of our Sherpa guides, we will tackle several technical sections and head towards the summit. Your arrival at the summit of Island Peak rewards you with breathtaking views of Mt. Lhotse, Mt. Makalu, Lhotse Middle Peak, Lhotse Shar, Mt. Nuptse, and many other surrounding mountains. After spending some quality time there we will proceed towards the base camp of Island Peak via the same trek route.

Day 11
Trek from Island Peak Base Camp to Dingboche

After successfully conquering the Summit of Island peak, we take our time and start our return back by retracing our footsteps and pass along the rocky trails which eventually heads bak to Dingboche. We can wash away the sweat and tiredness upon our arrival at Dingboche.

Day 12
Trek from Dingboche to Namche Bazaar

Leaving Dingboche, we continue our return trek on the main EBC trail. Our trail continues with rather easy downhill trekking that passes along many Chortens to arrive at Namche Bazaar. We will walk around busy market streets of Namche Bazaar with bewitching views of a snow-capped mountain.

Day 13
Trek from Namche Bazaar to Lukla

The last day of our Island Peak Climbing with Nepal Guide Treks and Expedition leads from Namche Bazaar to Lukla. We continue descending through the densely forested area. The walk remains pleasant in its short ups and downs and finally crossing the Bhote Koshi River thrice. A final uphill climb about 45 minutes brings you back to Lukla.

Day 14
Fly from Lukla to Kathmandu

After having breakfast, we will take an early morning scenic flight from Lukla to Kathmandu. You will be transferred to the hotel. You can either have rest in the hotel or visit the remaining sites in the valley. Walking around the busy streets of Thamel can be worth spending quality time in Kathmandu.

Day 15
Transfer to International Airport for your final departure.

Our representatives of Nepal Guide Treks and Expedition will drop you at the International Airport as per your flight schedule. You need to get into the airport 3 hours prior to your flight.
